Denny Renshaw is a Tennessee-born artist and photographer known for his bold portraiture and stylistic explorations of celebrity and subcultures.

Denny Renshaw hails from a Tennessee town best known as the birthplace of Rockabilly music, home to Carl Perkins, the place where Gil Scott-Heron spent his formative years and the subject of that famous Johnny Cash & June Carter song.

Denny fell in love with photography in college and discovered a passion for portraits while studying under the inspiring Baldwin Lee. Moving to New York, he assisted photographers such as Albert Watson OBE and Marco Grob. During this time Denny worked on portrait sittings with numerous celebrities and politicians including four United States Presidents and one Beatle.

Denny’s work has been featured in some of the most influential worldwide media publications including Rolling Stone, Time, New York Magazine, WIRED, Smithsonian Magazine, CNN Style and the New York Times. He has made portraits of Grammy winners and contributed camera work to an Emmy winning project. Denny’s portraits of Amy Winehouse were featured in the Oscar winning film “Amy” which won Best Documentary feature.
